The leading European retailer of consumer electronics chooses Enonic Vertical Site for content management for 10 web shops in 9 European countries. Enonic will simplify content management not only for the central unit in Elkjøp, but for the local markets as well.

Elkjøp will, during 2006, adjust their technical platform to meet their customer’s requirements for user-friendly and efficient web shops. Further  Elkjøp will establish new web shops in new markets.  By using a common platform in nearly all of the markets that Elkjøp and their British owners DSG International plc, are operating, further synergies are expected.

DSG International is the leading European specialist retailer of consumer electronics with operations in fourteen countries. Their brands includes Dixons, PC City, Electro World, Elkjøp, El Giganten, and UniEuro.

“We are building the internet platform for the future.  We are aiming for a user-friendly solution that gives us cost effeciency and rapid deployment of new features”, says Ole Johan Lindøe, Manager Internet Nordic at Elkjøp Nordic AS.

Integration with Intershop Enfinity and FAST Data Search
Vertical Site is a key central component in a complete solution which also consists of components from both Intershop and FAST.  Seamless integration is critical for the solution. Vertical Site delivers a Web Services API which will be used throughout the complete solution.

Vertical Site main task is content authoring and maintaining. This includes large amounts of product information and general information as articles, campaigns etc.

Thorough evaluation
Elkjøp made a detailed evaluation of the market and selected a few vendors which where examined further. They did a Proof of Concept in November and December 2005 with Enonic Vertical Site.  The objective was to ensure that the components integrated easily.

There are three important criterias when you choose a solution for international eCommerce: Cost efficiency, scalability and flexibility.  By integrating Veritcal Site in our existing solution we will gain all this.  The possibilities for customization combined with an effective standard solution was important for choosing Vertical Site”, says Lindøe.

Electro World, Czech Republic
During 2006 web shops will be launched in 9 of the 15 European markets where Elkjøp and their British owner is established. The first web shop will launch in the Czech Republic in May, the rest will be launched soon after consecutively.

“Elkjøp’s choice confirms our strong position as one of the leading suppliers within the marked for Java-based Web Content Management.  We are successful on business critical solutions with strong demands for both technology, flexibility, and user friendliness”, says Morten Eriksen, CEO at Enonic.
