The service was launched July 1, 2006, and will, in cooperation with each county, establish local work, and welfare offices all over the country by 2010. The main concept is to get more people productively working and fewer people relying on welfare programs.
This is the largest government reform in Norway in modern times, and includes 16.000 employees in both state and county levels of government as well as the administration of over $39 billion usd a year. Given the program’s breadth and depth it will eventually impact every Norwegian citizen.
To ensure efficient Web Content Management, communications with employees, and the Norwegian people NAV has decided to use Enonic Vertical Site for their Intranet and internet portals. The solution will be delivered by Enonic’s Nordic partner Avenir and was the chosen solution amongst five competing vendors. The agreement also includes services, the FAST search engine delivered by Comperio and options for a form engine delivered by More as well as usage statistics from Web Trends. NAV has estimated the value of this contract to be $3.8 million usd.
“NAV had six critical requirements during their evaluation; User-friendliness, functionality, technical quality, hosting, services, and pricing. The solution from Avenir and Enonic scored well with all these criterias. In addition the solution was easier in regards to configuration compared to some of the other solutions. Vertical Site is also very easy to use and learn.” says Inger-Hilde Hillesund, in NAV to Dagens IT - a leading IT newspaper in Norway.
The solution will run on BEA’s Weblogic application server and based on Oracle. The FAST integration is handled by a connector. For this project, the connector is tailored for integrating Vertical Site and FAST, and this makes it easy for other customer to get a robust and fast enterprise search engine integrated with Vertical Site.
The solution is currently being implemented and the intranet was launched on July 1. The Internet portal is scheduled to launch on October 1.
“We are grateful for NAV’s decision to choose Enonic Vertical Site amongst Java CMS suppliers such as Polopoly, Escenic and Fatwire. This proves that the results of our continued focus on simple configuration, robust technology and user-friendliness have been positive. We are looking forward to future cooperation with NAV and Avenir”, says Morten Eriksen, CEO at Enonic.
